I & I Reduction Continued...

(Community Development Block Grants) written by Borough Council President Kimberly Weikert and granted by McKean County Redevelopment & Housing Authority.

There have been 2 phases of grants awarded and replacements completed so far.  There is currently a 3rd and final phase written by Borough Secretary Lou Ann Hurrle and McKean County Redevelopment & Housing awaiting approval for 2019.

Although the most recent 3 phase project has been in response to DEP requests to reduce the storm water infiltration into our sewer lines, previous councils had started replacing lines in 1998.

Borough Council President Wayne King had worked closely with McKean County Redevelopment & Housing at that time to secure a $350,000 grant to repair Edson Street.  The street paving, sidewalks, water and sewer lines were all relocated and/or replaced.

Since 1998, Eldred has been able to update a large section of our sewer collection system.  With this endeavor coming to an end, it is hoped that focus can be directed towards much needed updates and expansions to our plant itself.
